Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an better service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
