Reigning Sabalenka Secures Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Awards.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record £11m in prize money.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
